Inland Revenue Department Numbers

Individual Revenue Department Number

If you plan to work or earn money in New Zealand, you will need an Inland Revenue Department (IRD) number. Without an IRD number your tax will be deducted at a higher rate. Once you receive your IRD number you will keep this same number for your entire life. So regardless of how many times you leave or return to New Zealand you will always keep the same IRD number.

Non Individual Revenue Department Number

Companies operating in New Zealand will also require an IRD; this is called a Non Individual Revenue Department Number.
