Taxback.com’s CSR Initiative donates €1,000 to Foróige DRUM Youth Centre

17 April 2013

DonationOn Friday 12th of April Taxback.com’s CSR Initiative donated €1,000 to the Foróige DRUM Youth Centre.

Kate Carroll from the centre, along with three Transition Year Students from Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny, came into the Kilkenny office to be presented with the cheque by Business Development Manager Eamon Clune. The money raised will go towards a Foróige Street Art Project which will commence in early July.

Foróige has been helping the youth of Ireland develop in mind, body and spirit since its foundation in 1952; encouraging them to develop themselves and their communities in addition to helping them with poverty, alcohol issues, family difficulties and crime. The vital work they do through their clubs, youth projects, mentoring and leadership programs assists approximately 60,000 young people every year.

The Foróige DRUM Youth Centre provides a full range of work services which cater to the needs of the young people in the area. Partnership with organisations like Taxback.com is a key component for their projects, providing much needed fundraising support. The projects they work in are always in response to the needs and desires of people in their community, and their latest project is no exception.

Kilkenny County Council has graciously given the DRUM Youth Centre riverside wall space along recently renovated Lacken Walk on which to place their art. The art will undoubtedly enrich the walk which is used constantly by the public.

The Street Art Project hopes to engage the young members of the Foróige DRUM Youth Project, teaching them how to assist creative consultants in the development of the design and implementation of the project. It is hoped volunteers will also get involved with the project.

The piece is expected to incorporate positive, uplifting images and quotes centered on the theme of ‘positive mental health.’

Over the years, the Taxback.com CSR Initiative has donated generously to multiple organisations, but we are particularly delighted to donate to a cause which is so instrumental in the development of young people. We hope the money we donated helps the Foróige DRUM Youth Centre in realising their new project and look forward to supporting them further in the future.
