New Zealand & Australia Superannuation Agreement

New Zealanders will soon be able to get back their Australian superannuation payments under a new trans-Tasman agreement.

There is an estimated NZ$16.6 billion in "lost" superannuation accounts, according to the Australian Tax Office, and most of this will belong to New Zealanders who worked in Australia and since moved back to Aotearoa New Zealand.

Until now Kiwis could not transfer their Australian superannuation home, but the new agreement will allow for transfers between certain super funds and KiwiSaver funds in NZ.
