A second stimulus pack was hinted by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Treasurer Wayne Swan. The first tax cut saw 10.4 billion brought back to middle and low earners, and the second pack is expected to get greater than that.
Rudd has called employers to show flexibility and minimize job cuts, and employees to withhold wage claims until better times. Rudd says:
"We are determined to chart a course that will see Australia through this crisis. We will do so with a combination of steely economic management and compassion for those who need support."
