Changes to how temporary workers in Australia can claim their Superannuation Refunds will soon come into effect after the Goverment passed the Temporary Resident Superannuation Legistration Amendment Bill 2008.
Once workers leave Australia and their Oz visa expires, they will have 6 months to claim their Super Refund. After this the money will be tranferred to the ATO (Australian Tax Office).
People will still be able to claim their superannuation savings after this time but there will be increased taxes on their refund.
If you've worked in Australia and haven't applied for your Superannuation refund yet, apply now to avoid paying these extra taxes.
