Taxback.com has been named one of Ireland's Best Managed Companies for 2009. The annual Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards promote and recognise excellence in Irish-owned and managed companies. This years awards were held in Dublin on Friday March 5th in association with Bank of Scotland (Ireland), and were attended by the Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen T.D., 2009 was a hugely successful year for taxback.com with our CEO Terry Clune being named Irish Entrepreneur of the Year in October, while in September the company's International Community Outreach Programme was shortlisted for the Chambers Ireland's President's Awards for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This was the first time the company, which has more than 600 staff in 20 countries, had entered the Deloitte awards. To become one of the winners, taxback.com had to compete in a rigorous independent process that evaluates the calibre of their management abilities and practices including strategy, capability, commitment, financials and growth potential across all key functions of the business. Taxback.com CEO Terry Clune said it was wonderful to be recognised amongst other top Irish businesses for the awards. “All our staff and directors – many of whom have been with the company for many years - work very hard to ensure best practice is demonstrated across all our services and operations,” Clune said. “I'd like to thank all our staff worldwide for their support and contributions to the ongoing development of the company.” Deloitte Managing Partner Pat Cullen said: “To be recognised as a Best Managed Company is a tremendous achievement, given the challenges that companies in all industries are currently experiencing. "Our judging panel takes an in-depth look at each company - therefore to be chosen as a winner is testament to the sound management practices that are being implemented across the entire business. It is this thorough approach that will help these companies to take advantage of the upturn when it arrives.” David Latto, Head of Corporate Banking, Bank of Scotland (Ireland) said: “The 20 winning companies are an inspiration for all Irish companies by managing to show great focus and dedication in what has been a difficult year. Bank of Scotland (Ireland) is very proud to be a part of recognising and supporting their achievements and we hope these companies will continue to flourish and succeed in the years ahead.”
