Taxback.com scoops RSM International Entrepreneur Award in European Business Awards

Taxback.com fought off stiff competition to triumph in the 2010 HSBC European Business Awards yesterday.

As the winners of the RSM International Entrepreneur of the Year, taxback.com was the only Irish company to qualify and subsequently win this celebrated award amongst a group of 100 companies which gathered in Paris yesterday for the final stage of judging.

Fidelma McGuirk, Managing Director of www.taxback.com said: “We are delighted to receive such strong recognition on the European stage. To win a European Business award is a testament to the success of our client-focused approach to international business expansion. Our objective is to satisfy the increasing tax and foreign exchange needs people have in doing business abroad – either working themselves across countries or representing their corporate employers”.

The Awards, which celebrate innovation and the ability to generate financial growth, featured a group of winners with an impressive combined turnover of €766 billion Euros (6% of EU GDP) and employ over 3.5 million people.

Despite the global economic downturn, taxback.com has a forecasted turnover of €150m for 2010, reflecting 35% growth across the company.

Fidelma continued, “Thankfully, the future is looking bright for taxback.com as we plan to open an office in Canada in the short-term and three more international offices are planned for 2011”.

This latest award follows the win by company founder and CEO Terry Clune who attained the prestigious title of Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in October 2009. The company was also named a Deloitte Best Managed Company in Ireland in March 2010.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards said: “My congratulations to taxback.com for winning today. To win an Award is a remarkable tribute, as each year our judges raise the standard of expectation and are a tough bunch to please. We feel that taxback.com reflects the guiding principles of achieving commercial excellence through sustainability and demonstrating tangible business ethics.”

Alan Duffy, Head of HSBC Corporate Banking Ireland, said, “We congratulate taxback.com on their fantastic achievement. We are absolutely delighted to have an Irish winner for the second year running. Overall, this year’s entrants demonstrate that European business is alive and kicking and that there are exceptional organisations which are thriving and expanding regardless of the recent economic fragility."
