Taxback.com Haiti Orphan Fund

22 January 2010

Taxback.com’s Haiti Orphan Fund is dedicated to providing relief for the tens of thousands of earthquake affected orphans in Haiti. The initiative is being led by taxback.com with the support of Irish individuals and businesses including the International Orphanage Development Programme (IODP).

Thousands of children were orphaned by the January 12th 7.0 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 100,000 people in Haiti. Many children have been forced to live in the streets with desperate need for shelter, food and help.

The Taxback.com Haiti Orphan Fund aims to ensure these children receive the necessary aid, with immediate support being provided to Our Little Brothers and Sisters Orphanage. This Irish-run orphanage one and a half hours up Route Kenscoff from Petionville in Port-au-Prince has 350 children and was badly affected by the earthquake.

Taxback.com has an office in Haiti based in the Digicel building in Port-au-Prince, one of the few buildings least affected by the earthquake in the capital city. Thankfully all seven taxback.com staff are accounted for.

Taxback.com’s Haiti Orphan Fund will be part of a long-term sustainable relief programme led by taxback.com in association with IODP to help protect and build a future for post-earthquake orphans in Haiti.
