Taxback.com to raise money for CanTeen in City2Surf Challenge

22 July 2013

Over the past eight months, Taxback.com has been fundraising and donating to the charity CanTeen in order to fund the vital work they do in supporting young people aged 12 to 24 who are struggling directly or indirectly with cancer in their lives. As part of our fundraising efforts, this year members of our Sydney office will be taking part in the City2Surf challenge on August 11th.

As a support service for young people struggling with cancer, CanTeen provides numerous invaluable programmes, services and resources to their members. Each programme is designed to bring together young people through openness and team work while simultaneously allowing them the space to develop, feel empowered and work through their individual struggles. CanTeen prides itself on being able to offer it’s services free of charge, making it fully accessible to any young people who may need it; however, their outstanding services can not continue without ongoing support from fundraisers and charitable donations.

When approached about the best way to fundraise for CanTeen, staff in the Sydney office unanimously voted to run in the 14km City2Surf challenge from Sydney CBD to Bondi Beach. Each person who participates is asked to raise $1,000, or as much as they can in order to partake. The Taxback.com Team in Sydney have even set up their own fundraising page for the event, so if you feel like sponsoring us to do the walk, head on over to the page!

With tens of thousands of people taking part in the run annually, you can see how the funds add up. Last year CanTeen successfully raised $60,000 through the event, but given their reliance on fundraising for the continuation of their indispensable services, there’s always a way to raise more for this incredible charity. So, if you want to support this amazing cause, why not sponsor us?

If you’re interested in signing up for the run call Leigh Henderson on 02 9007 0235 or email leigh.henderson@canteen.org.au. If you want to support CanTeen but can’t do the run, you can donate to the charity directly via their website, pick a different event to participate in through their events calendar or find out how to hold a fundraiser for them.

We look forward to supporting CanTeen in their next fundraising event and hope the money raised through the Ciy2Surf challenge will go a long way in helping CanTeen support their young members.
