Irish tax refund applications - step by step

A simple timeline for our Irish tax reclaim process

Step 1: Create your account & apply online

Create (or login to) your Taxback account and complete our quick online application form.

Confirm some details about your income and allowable expenses - such as medical costs, remote working expenses, or rent paid. This helps to make sure you receive your maximum Irish tax refund.

Please also confirm your bank account details to ensure your refund is processed and reaches your account without issue.

Step 2: Pay our application fee

Once your form is complete, it’s time to pay our tax return application fee.

Fees for this service start from just [sc name="irish_paye_fee" ][/sc].

Please note – our fee is non-refundable.

Step 3: Approve us as your tax agent

The next step is to approve Taxback as your tax agent.

In order to do this, Taxback will ask Revenue to create an ‘Agent-Client Link request’ in your Revenue myAccount. This process may take a couple of days but you will receive notification from Revenue when the request is ready.

To confirm Taxback as your agent:

  • Login to your Revenue myAccount
  • Select MyEnquiries (top right of the screen)
  • Open the new message titled “Agent–Client Link request”
  • Here you can review the information provided and select ‘approve’ to confirm Taxback as your tax agent

Processing may take up to two working days after you accept or reject the request.

Step 4: We prepare and file your tax return

Once approved as your tax agent, we’ll review the information you provided in your application form.

Within 14 working days, we will provide you with an estimate of the refund you can expect to receive and prepare and file your tax return with Revenue.

Step 5: Receive your refund

After Revenue reviews and processes your return, any refund due is paid directly into your bank account.

It may take a couple of weeks before you receive your refund from Revenue.
